FFC Teams are coached by licensed coaches who are motivated to facilitate individual player development and promote team sportsmanship.
The Fayette Futbol Club (FFC) is a select soccer program, commissioned by Fayette County Youth Soccer League (FCYSL). All teams are trained by experienced volunteer coaches. FFC coaches are licensed by the state of Georgia. The coaches carry either “State E” or higher licenses.
Costs for an FFC player, for Fall 2012, is: $180 – registration fee, $100 – tournament fee, $5 - out of county fee, for a total of $280 (+ $5 for non-Fayette County residents) paid at the beginning of each season. There is a link on the website to be used for registration after the team members have been selected. At the end of the year (fall/spring season) if there is a balance of unused tournament fees per team, a refund is paid per player on that team. There are no fees paid to the coaches.
Uniform cost is in addition to the above fees. Uniforms will typically be used for multiple years, however they are subject to change and on those occasions we strive to coordinate uniform packages. Uniforms usually consist of 2 shirts, 1 pair of shorts and 2 pairs of socks for under $100.
Georgia Soccer, the governing body for soccer in Georgia, develops the schedules for all ages in the select program (U13’s through U19’s). Girls select soccer is referred to as Athena and the boys select soccer is referred to as Classic. In most ages there are 5 separate brackets with about 10 teams per bracket, known as Athena A through E or Classic I through V. Typically newly formed teams begin in the lower brackets, E or V. Based upon a teams seasonal performance, teams could either be promoted to the next higher bracket, demoted to the next lower bracket, or remain in the same bracket.
There are slight differences between FFC teams. Each team is autonomous with respect to player formations, practice times, team commitments, team equipment (additional items such as bags, warm-ups, practice gear . . )
Being on an FFC team involves:
• Players need to participate in tryouts to be evaluated for selection for a team
• Teams only form when a qualified volunteer coach is willing to coach
• Season game travel could be anywhere in GA (½ home games, ½ away games)
• Season games can be played on either or both Saturday and/or Sunday
• Teams are encouraged to participate in at least one pre-season and one post-season tournament
